Grant

November 2002

Scotto is just as excited for Grant's Birthday as Grant - he can't wait to get this party started!

Grant decided long ago that this was to be his best party ever and so he begged for a Slumber party.  We weren't sure it was such a good idea but decide to let his friends parents decide.  The invitations were worded so that it was both a regular party and then a slumber party for those who could or wanted to stay.  16 kids came to play with Grant on his 7th birthday - 12 of which stayed the night!

Is there more to life than lickin' the batter bowl?  If so, don't tell them!

Grant wanted a SLUMBER PARTY and everything needed to be the colors of the Oakland A's.

He had a great time decorating his Green and Gold Checkerboard cake.  The "bat" candles were special from Mema.

Twister!  This group loved the game and would play for as long as someone would spin! (Thanks Paula and Carrie - we love the game)

Mom and Scott seemed to be "All time spinners" for a while.

Grant "strikes a pose" - one of many during the championship Twister game.

The Menu

Lil' Smoky Sausages, Gogarts, Carrot and Dip, Bagel Bites, Chips and Olives - most of Grant's very favorite foods.

Say Cheese!

Ryan and Kevin

Jared and Grant - notice the X on Jared's hand?  They all had them to tell their right from their left during the Twister game!! So cute!

Quinten and Shane

Games and more....

Dad goes over the rules for "Pin the Ball in the Glove" - Grant's idea! Jared is busy decorating his pillow case that they all got to keep as their "goody bag".  Scott sent his to Uncle John to sleep with every night... and Uncle John does!

Nicolas gets ready to hit the pocket of the glove!

Lots of cheering and laughs.

Bill-Bill bounces his Ball-Ball!

While Bob-Bob supervises Ellie and Jared's game.

Nic and Nat really reach for the colors...don't fall!

Present time...

Jared reads Grant is special card - Grant got 4 of the same one that said happy birthday to a 7 year old!

Can you say excited?!?!?  Grant was trilled with the Ralston's Baseball theme gift.

He wants everyone to see his "box" of card!  They were all drolling!

Cake time...yum!

Mom lights the candles,

Everyone sings... especially is good pal Ryan...

and Kyle cheers because it is CAKE TIME!

Movie Time...otherwise known as a "Parent Regroup Time!"

And now it's time to relax.  All 14 crawl into their sleeping bags to watch Monsters Inc.

Even Cheecha enjoyed the motion picture magic.

They all did a good job trying to out last the movie but about 4 fell asleep during the movie.  Then 4 more after the movie too.

Ryan makes his parent and dentist proud by brushing his pearly white really well.

Brush yes...Sleep NO!  This was Ryan's 1st sleep over (as it was for most of them) and he was really wanting to be one of the last ones awake. Kevin has already passed out next to him!

Now Quinten and Kevin are both out...but not Ryan!

Here are the Fearsome Four-some that made it to the late night hours of the night.  Shane, Grant, Ryan and Cousin Kyle were all so proud of themselves.  And the last one awake...you guessed it...Ryan!

IT'S 6:30 A.M...WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING UP????

Well, we decided that the grown ups could play that game too so...we lined them all up in front of our house in their PJ's.  We then marched down the street to Grant's Elementary School for our ...

MARSHMALLOW FIGHT!!!!

The playground became our own personal battle field and the weapons were Marshmallows!  It looked like it was snowing with the 3 bags of 'Mallows that we got out.

Everyone had a great time running and yelling and throwing...and we are pretty sure they will not soon forget the Marshmallow Fight in their PJs at their school at 6:30 AM.

Sunrise in Clayton

The slumber party gang!

Duncan and Scott use the morning hours for play time!

Duncan is so cute!

Caytyn and Grant play with the new "octoblast".

We all had a really good time.  All the kids were great.  No one even need to go home in the middle of  the night.  Grant was right - they were ready for a Slumber Party!

Crash 'em, smash 'em time!
